Itbayat Travel Guide: How to Get to Y'ami Island
Mavulis, the northernmost island of the Philippine Archipelago, is only reachable by boat from Pagganaman Port in Itbayat. The ride, which takes at least 5 hours, will pass through several uninhabited islands such as Siayan, Ditarem, Ali and Misanga. A trip to the island is NOT ADVISABLE if you are a tourist looking for relaxation or pampering of some sort. Getting there is extremely risky. However if you are one of the crazy travelers out there, man the island is incredible!

Nanay Cano, the tourism officer of Itbayat can arrange a boat for this trip. The rate is fixed at Php6000 back and forth which includes an overnight stay in Siayan Island. The boat can accommodate up to 5 persons. Note that even if you go solo, you still get the same rate.

Another option is NOT to go to Mavulis, and instead just spend a night in Siayan. Boat rent for this trip costs Php3500 for a maximum of 5 persons.
